Concert at the Theatre Massimo with Beniamino Gigli

The last concert given by the great Tenor Beniamino Gigli at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo
on December 2, 1949. By the will of Gigli, several young lyric singers participated at this concert together with this great Tenor.

On the left the playbill of "Lucia di Lammermoor" 13 March 1948 with Michelangelo Verso in the role of Edgardo. On the right there is a playbill of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" 22 May 1949 with M. Verso in the role of the Count of Almaviva. Both operas have been executed with the Choir, Orchestra and Costumes of the "Teatro Massimo of Palermo".

On the left we see the playbill of the Lyric Season 1950 of the Teatro Massimo of Palermo.
Among the famous lyric singers we had: Tancredi Pasero, Giacomo Lauri Volpi, Mariano Stabile, Cesare Valletti, Carlo Tagliabue, Mafalda Favero and many others more.
On the right, the playbill of the Lyric Season at the Teatro Politeama Garibaldi of Palermo 1949. Among the famous lyric singers there were: Mario del Monaco, Marcella Pobbe, Mafalda Favero, Gianni Perea Labia, Gilda Alfano, Margherita Carosio, Sara Scuderi, Lina Aimaro, Giulietta Simionato, etc.

On the left the playbill of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" 14,16 January 1953 at the Metropolitan Pittsburgh Opera House with M. Verso again in the role of the Count of Almaviva.
Together with him in the same cast there were also: Gerard Pechner (Dr. Bartolo), Cesare Bardelli (Figaro) and William Wilderman (Don Basilio).
On the right the playbill of the entire Lyric Season 1953-1954 of "The Pittsburgh Opera House".



The Barber of Seville at the 'Arena delle Palme' - 1949 Palermo


Here above the playbill of "The Barber of Seville", 17 June 1949 with Michelangelo Verso in the role of the Count of Almaviva executed entirely in the open air at the 'Arena delle Palme' and again with the Choir, Orchestra and Costumes of the "Teatro Massimo of Palermo".
